Now I finally get to post a photo of the duck socks that I made for my daughter about a year ago:
Below is the toddler version I developed after my little one started walking. These were inspired by the blue-footed booby.
Photo courtesty of Chris Abraham.
The booby socks use the same pattern as the Duck Socks except they have a flat sole.
Please stay tuned for a followup blog post with more detail, including the booby sock pattern. I'll be back soon!
ADDENDA
1. Want an adult version? I'm working on it! Stay tuned to the blog and I'll post both additional sizes when they're ready.
2. DPN-users, check out this video, posted by Mojen on Ravelry: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mojen/4457054527/. Thank you Mojen!
These are absolutely adorable!!! I'm so sad my kids are too old for them now.

Those are so cute! I would love to make a pair of those for a baby I know.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love these!
ReplyDeleteAnxiously awaiting the toddler pattern! I've got a favorite toddler that would love to be a duck (or, as she says it, a "guck"!)
ReplyDeleteHeh....co-worker's wife is having twins. Guess I'll be making some duck socks for the babies...and hopefully a pair for their two year old! You're brilliant!
ReplyDeleteIf you are interested in selling the yellow duck socks, I am interested in buying them if they still look somewhat new. We are Oregon Duck fans and my son, who graduated from the U of O, is having a baby girl (well, his wife is!) in July. I would LOVE to give him a pair of these for her but I am not a good enough knitter yet to make them myself.

I love these, they are sooo cool. I can't wait for the toddler version as my little one is now walking.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of an adult pattern too? :)
Any chance you could size it up for adults? I sooooo want duck socks for padding round the house!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! You can't help but smile when you look at them on those little feet!
ReplyDeleteWow I totally love the duck sock!! Well done!

I love these! I have already gotten yarn and tried the pattern, but am finding myself stuck (ok confused) on round 2. If you would be willing to help unconfuse me, I would be forever grateful!!!

Thanks tons regardless!
I love these. I'm definitely planning to make them for my baby-to-be! And maybe a boobies version for my toddler.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't leave without commenting on how cute these are! There is a little girl in my life who just may get a pair!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome - hands down (or webbed feet down?) my favourite Knitty pattern in a looooong time. And I don't even have any kids! (really, I'm wanting some for ME)
ReplyDelete:)
Sooo cool! Guess I'd better get out the needles - baby is due in 10 weeks!
ReplyDeleteI saw the duck feet on Knitty and thought they were fab. Definitely going to make a pair for a friends baby.
ReplyDeleteSo need to make the baby and toddler version for a dear friend. These are so freakin' cute! Can't wait for the toddler and adult versions!
ReplyDeleteYes! Love both versions and hope you're able to post the toddler pattern too. And if you get around to the adult version, well, hubby might get some, too!
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE the Bobby socks! I think my 6 & 7 year olds would love them too! They have fairly small feet for their age...so maybe the toddler pattern would fit them???! (I'd love an adult pattern too...) Congrats on the Knitty publishing! :o)
ReplyDeleteOops...meant to say "Booby" socks...not Bobby socks. (wish there was an 'edit' button like on Ravelry...I'm smidgentigre over there.)
ReplyDeleteJust saw your duck socks pattern on Knitty, and I can't stop laughing! They're just too cute! How serendipitous...a friend is due to give birth to her first child within the next few weeks (a girl), so I guess I'll be knitting up a pair!
ReplyDeleteToo funny...as soon as I saw the pattern I immediately thought about a Blue Footed Booby version and then I visit your blog and BAM...you already did it! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh man, these are ADORABLE. My friend linked me to the pattern on Knitty and my first reaction was "OMG I MUST MAKE THESE." So I am anxiously awaiting the adult version!
ReplyDeleteThose are really cute! Both duck and booby versions.
ReplyDeleteAww man these are so adorable. I really want to make a pair for my friend's baby, but this is way beyond my skill level.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Can't wait to knit them up, and the Blue Foots as well! Thanks for making available.
ReplyDeletePossibly the cutest knitted socks ever!
ReplyDeleteAlso wishing for an adult version, but I'll do the baby version for a co-worker until that happens :o)
ReplyDeleteAhh geez! I don't know if my post went thru. Oregonian living in Sun Devil country & I LOVE MY DUCKS ;'D Please post the booby pattern for toddlers! My niece is just the right age & already has a very ducky collection going. These would be a great addition, unique. I can't wait to make all your ducky slippers/socks! Will be especially fun to wear the felted slippers to parties w/my devils! Excellent work! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDuh! Never mind! I found 'em under "Boobies" Thanks! My bro will love them UofO style for the l'il one! Thanks again for all of your hard work fellow PNWer!
